Welcome to the Tidal Cities, an online visualisation/teaching tool and role-play exercise on urban coastal placemaking using open-access Miro whiteboard software. 

INTRODUCTION

You are members of a special commission assembled by the Planning Agency to re-imagine an alternative vision for the future of Karagatan, a 7-mile stretch of urban shoreline in Metro Manila. You’ve been brought together as a representative panel to visualise an alternate future for this coastal area, through consensus decision-making. HYDRA, an independent consultancy was commissioned to propose a mix of ‘grey’/hard and ‘green-blue’/soft infrastructural solutions that could be considered.

HYDRA has completed a cost-benefit analysis of seven adaptation infrastructures (to be downloaded in the Players’ Manual).
